The purpose of the panel discussion is to share the K-12 Online Conference story with others and provide a forum for reflection and suggestions to make the 2007 conference even better. For more background, you can listen to this 40 minute discussion from March 13th with Lee Baber and Wesley Fryer.

Outline for the panel discussion on March 30th:

Introductions: 5 minutes
  1. Panelists and participants in attendance, brief framing about the conference

Next we'll have a 30 min overview of K-12 online:
  1. Darren: 10 min or so of an overview: how the idea came about, how the conference was planned and setup.
  2. Sheryl: 10 min or so on how the conference itself worked, Elluminate /live elements, discussion/conversation opportunities, and a little on stats we have about access to content and participant numbers, broken down however is appropriate
  3. Wesley: 10 min on results of the K-12 Online 2006 conference evaluation, suggestions for next year and lessons learned

Next we'll focus for about 15 minutes on a school district's use of K12Online06 for professional development:
  1. Shawn Nutting / April Chamberlain: Story of a district professional development project focused on K-12 Online.

Then we will open it up for several types of comments (10 min):
  1. Feedback in general from conveners and participants (how was the learning, experiences, esp how was this DIFFERENT from traditional prof development)
  2. Suggestions for next year / lessons learned
  3. How can our experiences in K-12 online inform teacher education, both from pre-service and in-service contexts?
